India first battery storage plant start in October

Good Enough Energy has announced on Tuesday that they will start operations at India’s first battery storage gigafactory in the northern region of Jammu and Kashmir by October.

This plant will help to reduce 5 million tons of carbon emissions in a year. Good Enough said that they are helping India towards the goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2070. 

The company already invested 1.5 billion rupees ($18.07 million) on 7 gigawatt per plant. And will invest 3 billion rupees by 2027 to make 20 gigawatts per hour, said the company founder Akash Kaushik.

The battery energy storage projects will help the renewable energy storage capacity to 500GWH by 2030. At present, 178 GWH is available.

For this plant the government gave $452 million incentives under the government storage capacity programme. 

It will help to store energy from solar, wind, and other renewable energy. We can use it for electric vehicles charging, home and city.
