Tata Nexon EV vs Mahindra SUV400- Dimension, powertrain, price

Tata recently launched its facelift version of Nexon EV 2023. Tata made some changes to its exteriors and interiors. They made minor changes in their specifications. Now this newly launched Tata Nexon EV directly competes with the Mahindra XUV 400.

So in this article let’s compare both these electric cars which come from leading Indian manufacturers.

Tata Nexon EV vs Mahindra SUV400

Dimension

Let’s start from Dimensions. Both these electric cars come under the compact SUV segment and make a decent presence. When they are on the road the face-lifted Nexon EV measures 3994 mm in length 1811 mm in width and 1616 mm in height, width 2498 mm. 

Wheelbase

Wheelbase whereas XUV 400   measures 4200 mm in length, 1821 mm in width and 1634 mm in height with 2600 mm wheelbase. In terms of length width and height XUV400 is bigger than 2023 Nexon EV. XUV400 also has higher ground clearance of 200 mm compared to Nexon EV which has 190 mm ground clearance.

Exterior & Features

 Exterior wise starter Nexon EV looks more beautiful than the Mahindra XUV400. Tata provided connected LED DRL and tail light this makes Nexon EV differentiable from its IC sibling.

Whereas Mahindra XUV400 looks identical as its IC sibling XUV300. Personally I like new nexon ev and if you dive into the features Tata has an edge over here after the 2023 update. Tata Nexon EV definitely outclasses its rival with functionalities like all LED lights, automatic climate control connected DRL and tail light, a fully digital instrument console, a premium 9 speaker, JBL audio system, 360 degree parking camera.

 Three types of voice controls Etc text on EV has all these features which are missing in XUV400.  Further Nexon EV has a 12.3 inches infotainment system whereas the Mahindra XUV has a 7 inch unit.

Both this electric car has features like electric sunroof Wireless, Mobile charging, three driving modes, cruise control and USB charging port as similar. In terms of safety both these top Indian manufacturers offer six airbags, ESP Hill Hall and Hill descent control,TPMS, home lamps and our reverse View Camera.

 Tata Nexon EV has two first in segment features called vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to load. You can charge other electric car with the help of this Nexon EV.  you can run your all household appliances with the help of these two features.

Powertrain

Let’s discuss the powertrain Tata Nexon EV is available in two different variants. They are mid-range and long range mid-range variants with a 30.2 kilowatt hour battery. Tata is claiming a range of 325 kilometers in the long range variant. We get 40.5 kilowatt hour battery with which Tata is claiming a range of 465 kilometers. 

On the other hand Mahindra XUV 400 is also offered in two different variants called EC and El. EC gets a 34.5 kilowatt hour battery with which Mahindra is claiming a range of 375 kilometers. The El top end variant gets a 39.4 kilowatt hour battery with which the company is claiming a range of 456 kilometers. These are the certified ranges. Real ranges of both the electric cars vary at least by 10 to 20 percent.

Mahindra XUV 400 base variant offers higher battery capacity and more range than the Nexon EV base variant. So XUV 400 has an edge in terms of claimed range. 

But in real life conditions both these electric cars manage to give the same range. When it comes to power figures

Tata Nexon EV base variant produces 127

BHP of power and 215 Nm of torque. Top end variant produces 143 BHP of power and 215 newton meters of peak torque. Whereas both XUV400 variants produce 148 BHP of power and 310 Nm of torque. As per performance XUV 400 will achieve 0-100 kmph in 8.3 seconds making it 0.6 seconds quicker than Nexon EV facelift.

Charging Time

Next charging time both these electric cars support 7.2 kilowatt AC charger and 50 kilowatt DC fast charging. Both these electric cars can charge from 0 to 100 in less than one hour by using a 50 kilowatt DC fast charger.

Price

 Finally, the price of the Tata Nexon EV is available in six different frames in two different variants. The very basic variant cost starts from 14.74 lakh rupees and the very top end variant ends at 19.94 lakh rupees. 

Whereas XUV 400 is available in three trims starting from 15.99 lakhs to 19.39 lakhs EX showroom.
