Slowly, BYD is close to surpassing Tesla in sales figures, due to delivery decline in over a year. In the three months up to 30th September, BYD sold 431,603 units electric vehicles and Tesla sold 4,31,603 units electric vehicles worldwide in the same period. Only there are 3,456 unit electric car gaps between the two brands.
Taylor Ogan, CEO of Snow Bull Capital, a Shenzhen-based hedge fund holding shares in both the companies, confidently predicted, “BYD may sell more fully-electric vehicles than Tesla car in the fourth quarter.”
BYD is China’s top most electric vehicle selling brand. They sold 822,094 in the quarter, breaking all the reports. BYD is one the brands who offer cost electric vehicles for the customers.
Recently BYD launched two new electric vehicles in China which are Yangwang and Fang Cheng Bao, targeting the 1 million-yuan (USD 137,000) price. Both these cars are in the luxury category. The two affordable BYD cars are Seagull and Dolphin, affordable competitors in pricing.
