Tresa Motors invest ₹500-₹1000 Cr in manufacturing and R&D for EV truck

Tresa Motors is planning to invest ₹500-₹1000 Cr to manufacture and R&D for EV trucks in India, said the newly appointed chairman of its Board, Vinod K. Dasari.

Dasari wants to take immediate action after his chairman. He has experience in Royal Enfield, Ashok Leyland and was former President of SIAM. 

The company is planning to set up their plant in Karnataka or Tamil Nadu. Is is expected that the final decision may come within 2-3 months, the chairman told the reporter. 

The Bangalore based startup company was founded by Rohan Shravan and Ravi Machani and offers core competency in industrial design, electric powertrain, and battery related technologies. Right now It is developing an electric truck which comes with an 18 to 55 tonne GVW segment and unveiled its first vehicles, the Model V0.1 in July,2023. 

Tresa Motors is planning to launch a heavy commercial truck in India. It is capable of carrying 18 tonnes of goods. They are not thinking of any light commercial vehicles like 11 tonnes carrying trucks. 

The prototype of the electric truck will be unveiled in the first week of September. But final production of this electric truck may take two years. That means it will launch in 2026.

The chairman also said that the new upcoming electric truck will be designed as per Indian condition. This will be capable of fast charging options. It will go up to 400 to 500 km on a single charge. It is fully made in India. So, Tresa Motors wants to collect 1000 workers for manufacturing this truck.
