In the country, Switch private limited is leading electric double decker bus manufacturing company for public transport. A double decker bus is more beneficial than a single decker bus. Because it carries more passengers than a single decker bus.
Tata Motors is one of the biggest commercial vehicles manufacturing companies in India. Recently, they filed a patent on an electric double decker electric bus. Because lots of State governments want to use double decker buses in their state because of traffic congestion. So, to see the big market, Tata Motors also showed their interest to enter this segment.
Recently Mumbai Government added Switch EiV22 electric double decker bus in Mumbai which is made by Switch private limited. They are also committed to add more double decker buses in Mumbai to reduce traffic congestion.
Switch transformed their 9 meter single deck bus into a double decker by extensively re-engineering the chassis, suspension, and body. Tata motors is also working on the same process to offer a double decker bus.

Recently, Tata Motors launched 3 types of 9 meter and 12 meter electric buses like Ultra,Urban, Starbus. All these buses offer AC and non-AC buses with low floor options.
These buses offer 400mm low floor buses and 900mm high floor buses. The Tata Ultra buses are equipped with 124 kWh large battery pack which offers 150 km range and 75 kmph top speed. This motor produces 245 kW of peak power and 3000 Nm torque.
On the other side, the 12m Starbus comes with a 250 kWh large battery pack that offers 200 km range.
This step front Tata Motors will enhance the e-transportation in India as well as reduce the carbon emissions in India.
