Mukesh Ambani Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) is planning to bring Hydrogen fuel trucks in India.
This year in February the RIL first introduced its first hydrogen truck which was developed with Ashok Leyland, at the ongoing India Energy week in Bengaluru.
“The Hydrogen internal combustion engine(H2-ICE) which emits zero carbon emission. But it delivered the same performance as a diesel truck. It doesn’t produce noise. It is fully run by green energy.”- RIL said in a press statement.
The Hydrogen truck comes with two big hydrogen cylinders. The company also worked on heavy duty trucks before deploying a commercial truck.
There are a large number of diesel engine trucks that are run in India that emit a large quantity of carbon. Now it is available to almost four million but it will be increased to roughly 17 million by the end of 2050, according to the government data.
In future, India aims to become the world’s largest hydrogen producer and exporter also. So, the government has announced the $2.38 billion National Hydrogen Mission aims to establish a green hydrogen ecosystem and want to make India net zero emission by 2070.
Last month, A US based truck manufacturing company Triton Electric vehicle, announced its own hydrogen truck which will be manufactured in Gujarat.
In January, Kerala government gave permission to a pilot project for gen buses in the state.
