Honda’s first affordable electric scooter to debut in India next year

India well known two wheelers manufacturing company Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India is planning to enter the electric two wheelers segment next year in India. It will be Honda’s first affordable electric scooter to debut in India.

Now, there are lots of electric two wheelers companies operating across the country where Ola is top. But after Honda, this competition will be difficult for other companies. 

The company said that the new electric two wheelers will come with battery swapping technology. For this product, the company is making a huge manufacturing plant at Narsapur in Karnataka. It is expected that this plant is capable of touching 10 lakh units annually by 2030.  

Already Honda is working on battery swapping networks across India. The Honda CEO and president Atsushi Ogata said,” E-mobility is growing rapidly in India. We are not far away. We want to make the best EV business structures in the country. To fulfill these requirements we are coming up with a dedicated factory in Narsapura”.

He also said that we are also working to manufacture two wheelers components like PCU, battery cell. The new product will be made and designed as per Indian climate and customer views.

All the products will be launched on a Honda specific platform where a battery swapping network will be introduced. 

The company wants to launch the electric scooter with more than 6000 touchpoints that come with a battery swapping facility as well as charging stations.

HMSI wants to build a strong ecosystem among the electric vehicles across the country. They are also working to set up battery swapping stations at petrol pumps, metro stations and locations in  cities.
