As per the policy, The Tamil Nadu Government chief minister M.K Stalin said they want to promote electric vehicles in major cities like Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruchirapalli for e-mobility solution.
Also Tamil Nadu Government re introduced some other subsidies like state and service tax (SGST), investment and turn over based subsidy, advanced chemistry cell subsidy, electrification of public and commercial transport and some other features of Tamil Nadu Electric Vehicles Policy 2023.

Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin on Tuesday released this new EV policy.
On this policy, Govt. want to introduce new e-mobility in different states like Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruchirapalli, Madurai, Salem and Tirunelveli.
They include all kinds of electric vehicles under this EV policy like battery electric vehicles (BEV), hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in electric vehicles, and strong hybrid electric vehicles.
For this policy, Tamil Nadu signed MoUs with an investment interest of nearly Rs 24,000 crore and employment potential of Rs 48,000 jobs in EV value chain.
On this new policy, Govt gives you don’t need to give any electricity bill on power purchased from Tamil Nadu Generation & Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO).
This policy will help the financial support companies who are working on EV manufacturing for upskilling their workforce.
Also the Govt reduced some tax on road tax, registration charges and permits fees for EVs.
According to this policy, govt will set up more EV charging stations in Tamil Nadu over the year 2023.
Already Tamil Nadu Government is giving incentives Rs 5000 to Rs 10 lakh on battery EVs like electric two wheelers, four wheelers and commercial vehicles.
Also Tamil Nadu is offering incentives on charging stations and battery swapping across the state. It is expecting that this new EV policy will encourage the people to bring close to electric vehicles in future.
The government also thinking to incentive on internal combustion engine to transforming electric vehicles.
